Red Velvet Cupcake

The hottest selling item in store right now has to be the Red Velvet cupcake. Customer who walk in looking for it usually buy not just one but at least two pieces and these cupcakes are usually sold out by late afternoon. This is the only type of cupcake that we produce more than one batch per day. So, what is red velvet? According to Wikipedia :-

A red velvet cake is a popular cake with a dark red, bright red or red-brown color. It is usually prepared as a layer cake topped with a creamy vanilla icing or most popularly, cream cheese icing. The reddish-brown color of the cake was originally from a reaction of the cocoa powder with an acidic ingredient such as buttermilk; however, red food coloring is often added.

Common ingredients include buttermilk, butter, flour, cocoa, and beetroot or red food coloring. The amount of cocoa used varies in different recipes. Cream cheese frosting is most commonly paired with the cake, as well as the traditional buttercream

Red velvet selling at B$3.00 per piece. You may have it with less cream cheese frosting upon request

A friend who works in a renowned cafe in Australia suggested to put the cupcake in microwave for few seconds before it is served for a better texture. I have yet to try it though but if you share the same thought, do let me know. Below are some of the photos of RV tagged by satisfied customers.
